Radis Adoptions - Adoption Pregnancy Center
  • Just got a call from an old client. Their daughter is 13 and a star student &  athlete at her school. It is these calls that make my day. No matter what else happens today, knowing this teenager is doing  great is enough. I intend to kiss the wife and both dogs tonight with just a little more joy in my step.
  • Today the Supreme Court of the United States is hearing an ICWA case out of South Carolina.  The fate of a three year little girl rest with these nine jurists.  Does Veronica  stay with her biological father or return to her adoptive parents?  The SCOTUS decision is expected in June.

If you are interested in reading about Baby Veronica. Use your search engine and search for " Baby Veronica ICWA ." If you chose to reseach this case, please read both sides before you form an opinion about whose side is the correct side.

Just ran into an old client. We recognized each other right away. Twenty-two years after the fact. It was great to catch up. Her daughter is going to medical school. Her son into the Marine Corps. It's such a rush to hear these positive stories of how well adopted children are doing.

Adoption is more than a career.

I heard of an interesting case out of New Jersey today. The New Jersey Supreme Court held that prenatal drug use by a mother was not a basis for finding child abuse or neglect.  There needs to be evidence that there is imminent danger to the child or actual evidence of harm to the child.

I hope this frees up more children for direct private placements adoptions without involvement by a social service department bent on fostering.

I read about two interesting cases recently. They are not both adoption cases but have implications to the adoption field.

The first one is EX PARTE HOPE ELISABETH ANKROM, an Alabama case dealing with the offense of chemical endangerment of a child. The Supreme Court held that " offense of chemical endangerment of a child , includes unborn children." it is my understanding the child lived 19 minutes.

With addiction being a problem in the adoption field , testing of birth mother candidates is extremely important. If the birth  mother tests positive are the lawyers...
  • Adoption Day in Los Angeles County, the best! I have three adoption finalizations set for this morning. Three very happy families. Adoption Finalization Day is an important day. Today all the stress is over.

The Judge usually asks me to do a card trick or two which makes adoption more Magical.

  • To all you adoptive parents out there, the Federal tax legislation allows for a tax credit for adoption expenses incurred in 2013.  The maximum tax credit is $12,970 Those with a modified adjusted gross income of $194,580 or less qualify for the full credit. The amount of the credit graduates downward to zero as incomes approach $234,580.

This will help to make  the magic that is adoption more affordable for more  prospective adopting families..

Mike and Kevin

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about us and our dream of growing our family.  We are honored that you are considering us as your child’s adoptive parents. Please know that if you decide to choose us, your child will be loved unconditionally in a safe, fun, and educational home.  She or he will be encouraged to achieve each and every one of his/her dreams.

About Us

We are Mike and Kevin.  Seven years ago, we met through friends in our running club. That meeting blossomed into a wonderful and committed relationship.

Together, we enjoy doing many things such as concerts, theater, cooking dinner with friends, and running with our running club.  We have been fortunate enough to travel to Africa, Australia, Europe, and Asia, as well as many places in the U.S.  We love exploring new places and experiencing different cultures.

We also enjoy staying local with skiing and hiking nearby.  Because we have two very sweet dogs, we often invite friends over for dinner or game nights so that the dogs can enjoy company too!

About Mike

Mike was raised in Tucson, Arizona by his loving parents and his wonderful maternal grandmother.  Mike was a lot younger than his two brothers, but enjoyed tagging along with them.  Through college and graduate school, Mike combined his love of plants with his love of teaching.  He moved to Los Angeles to teach about plants at a big museum. Mike really enjoys running and music, and he also likes crossword puzzles and dancing. He has run many marathons and runs relay races with teams of runners who take turns running over the course of 24 hours.  Mike also enjoys mixing music as a DJ as well as mixing food in the kitchen discovering new recipes.  Mike’s schedule allows him the flexibility to stay at home for the first couple of years to provide a nurturing environment for our child.

Kevin’s thoughts on Mike

One of Mike's most incredible attributes is his selflessness.  He's always concerned about the well being of everyone around him.  If there is someone in need, Mike is always the first to be there.  He is very giving of his time and volunteers with multiple organizations and has been recognized many times as an outstanding volunteer with different charities. Mike will be a wonderful father, and I am looking forward to starting this journey with him.

About Kevin

Kevin was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii by his caring parents.  As an only child, Kevin was surrounded by a big extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Kevin frequently visits friends and family in Hawaii, and he hopes to share the spirit of Aloha and friendly Hawaiian culture with our child.  Kevin’s college and medical training took him to California.  During his schooling, he was fortunate to experience living abroad in Japan and doing medical research in Washington, DC.  Kevin has always looked forward to having children and is excited for that wonderful next step.

Mike’s thoughts on Kevin

Kevin is calm, caring, smart, funny and handsome.  I’m a lucky guy.  Being from Hawaii, he brings a lot of sunshine with him to everyone that he knows.  Kevin is very intelligent and hardworking.  As an eye surgeon, he has done volunteer work in free clinics in areas of need in Los Angeles, and he also has done charity medical work in places such as the Philippines and Southeast Asia.  In his job, he takes care of people everyday, and I know he would do anything to take care of his family.

Family & Friends

Our family and friends mean everything to us.  We are fortunate to have loving, supportive families in our lives who are excited about us becoming parents.  Mike’s brother, Tim, and his wife, Maggie, are expecting a baby later this year.  Kevin has six cousins in Los Angeles all with children so there are a lot of little cousins to play with.

We also are blessed with a wonderful set of close friends that really are a part of our extended family.  Many of our friends are raising children of their own, and we really enjoy playing with them, reading to them, and taking them out for ice cream.

Our Home and Community

We live in a comfortable house in Los Angeles complete with two dogs, Junior and Sister.  It is a very safe community with one of the best elementary schools in the city within walking distance.  There is a lake that people jog and push strollers around, a dog park, and a wonderful recreation center and playground walking distance from our house.

Our Message to You
