A little about us - we met over 15 years ago while studying abroad during college. We love traveling, spending time with friends and family, and relaxing outside in the backyard garden at our home in Los Angeles. Spending time with family is very important to us, and we both have warm and loving extended families. We have a two-year-old daughter, and we are so thrilled to expand our family through adoption. We see adoption as a beautiful way to grow a family through love, which is what family is all about for us.
Community is super important to us. We have a wide circle of friends who enjoy getting together for dinners, playdates for the kids, and local adventures. During the summer, we co-host weekly swim classes for babies and toddlers at Brian’s dad’s house. We know our neighbors well, and the people in our neighborhood enjoy spending time together and helping each other out. Our house is full of books and toys, and we have a sandbox, playhouse, and collection of toddler vehicles in the backyard for our daughter and her friends to play with. We believe that having a strong, supportive, and involved community makes life meaningful and helps children to thrive.
We enjoy traveling on our own and together with our extended family. We have family in Hawaii, so we go every chance we get to spend time with them and to enjoy the island lifestyle. Brian’s family tradition is to spend Thanksgiving in Palm Desert, about two hours outside of LA, so we make an annual trip to the desert to see our Uncle Kenny skillfully cut the turkey. For Christmas, we head back east to Virginia to spend the holiday with Lauren’s mom, dad, sisters, nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins, and 94-year-old grandma! Throughout the year, we make time for trips to the beach, the mountains, and farmlands in Southern California.
We believe that above all else, children need unconditional love from their parents. As parents, we are role models to our children through our everyday actions, and it is our job to show them how to treat themselves and others with kindness and respect. We enjoy having a warm, hospitable home full of laughter, play, and a supportive community of family and friends.

Meet Brian (written by Lauren):
Brian is funny, kind, generous, and creative. Most importantly, he is a loving husband and father. Brian loves creating something from nothing. He has planted a flourishing garden at our home, built a thriving photography business, and run a school garden program at a nearby middle school. More than anything, he loves building community and creating fun and memorable times with people that he loves.
Brian plays many roles in his life, but his absolute favorite role is father. He adores children and loves nothing more than spending time with our young daughter, Simone. He loves taking Simone camping, teaching her new skills, and putting her to sleep at night. She lights up when Daddy walks in the room, and Brian loves nothing more than making her crack up. He dreams of the day when he’ll be a father of two. Being a dad has opened his heart in so many ways, and he has so much love to give to our future baby.
Meet Lauren (written by Brian):
Over the past 15 years, I have watched Lauren in many different situations where her love, openness, and selflessness have shined. Lauren traveled to other countries as a high school and college student and has never forgotten how it feels to be a stranger in a new place. She has profound empathy for others who find themselves far from their families, often reaching out in meaningful ways to make sure they feel welcome. Recently, she invited a father and son from Jamaica to our family Thanksgiving. They had just arrived in Los Angeles and didn’t have any family of their own to be with for the holiday, and Lauren wanted to make sure that they had plans for the holiday.
Watching Lauren flourish in her role as a mother has been one of the most touching experiences of my life. Lauren is dedicated to being an intentional and thoughtful parent to our daughter, Simone. Lauren’s love for Simone is exuberant. Whether it’s manifested as a new jingle that Lauren has made up about Simone, their frequent excursions to the zoo, or the way the smile spreads across her face as she reads a bedtime story, in her role as a mother Lauren’s capacity for unconditional love has expanded beyond what I ever knew was possible.
